Beautiful Advent Reflection! I like - “He wants us to see that our virtue depends not on our work alone but through His grace.” We should never be so arrogant to assume that we can achieve any level of holiness without His grace. ... also, St Chrysostom is one of my favorites!

Getting older does help. It really does, but I wish I had had this insight when my now adult kids were young, so I could have shared with them! But its also true growing that everyone has to come to insights on their own timing in order to make it their own and personal betwen them and God. Which brings us back full circle to letting God be in charge not me😂

Actually, our relationship with God deepens when we are humble towards God. The best place for us to discern God’s will is when we are at peace and silent as a result of this humility toward God. Prayer is then done within this context. See 1Peter 5:5-7; Philippians 4:6-7; James 4:6-10; Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 6:25-34, 11:28-30; Psalms 37:7, 55:22; Isaiah 26:3-4, 30:15, 55:6-9; John 6:63; Galatians 5:16-26; Romans 13:14; 6:13; 8:28.
