(Originally published in The Prodigal Parishioner) Our Blessed Mother doesn’t say much—but when she does, she says everything. Sacred Scripture records only four instances of Mary speaking, three of which are in the Gospel of Luke: Her conversation with the angel Gabriel at the Annunciation and her surrendering
In Matthew 6:25-34, Jesus tells us to not worry about anything. When I first read this many years ago, I wasn’t sure if I was reading it right. It sounded like God did not want me to worry about anything at all. I later found verses that confirmed my initial perception. God wanted me to not worry about anything by casting all of my care on Him. I dared to try it; and it produced the promised results. See Philippians 4:6-7; 1Peter 5:5-7; Proverbs 3:5-6; Matthew 11:28-30; Psalms 37:7, 55:22; Isaiah 26:3-4, 30:15, 55:6-9; John 6:63; Galatians 5:16-26; Romans 6:13, 8:28; and James 4:6-10.
Lately I continually 'hear' the HolybSpirit tell me to make better use of Our Blessed Mother. I am. I could do better still, but I am doing better, and you know what? Things are getting better!
