My faith is always so temperamental - emotions be darned sometimes I wish I didn’t have them. I want to get to a point that I can absolutely rejoice in all suffering and stop letting it get to me. We’ve been without a kitchen for a month because of a water leak and damage to the subfloor. Insurance is dragging their feet. I need to start each morning giving thanks for this predicament. :D Thank you for the reminder.

I think that is true for everyone. Likewise, I was extremely angry a couple of years ago when my insurance was cancelled - seems they suddenly discovered that my 100 yr old mountain cottage is heated with wood and not a modern furnace, and that was grounds to cancel. In retrospect, I had just paid off the mortgage, so that was not a problem. I just had to learn to do more of my own home repairs and save the money I was paying for insurance for bigger jobs where I need to hire help. It all worked out just fine. Meanwhile, a friend's house burned - insurance only paid a portion and they had to take out a second mortgage!

Very good article with a lot of meaning.

In my lifelong battle to gain significance, the only approval I should be concerned about is God's approval.

Thanks! Man is a social creature and the approval of others is a real need. but you are very correct that it must be in perspective. Our Lord promised that we would be rejected by the world if we are to be true Christians. Hopefully, we will find fellowship with other Chrisitans on this earth and the Communion of Saints in the next.
