How does one become selfless, when all throughout my youth I was taught,"Make your own way",and "Be No. 1"

I think was we mature and develope in our faith,we must unlearn what the American culture has taught us,and more be governed by the Word of God,which for a long time, went against my grain or my natural flesh. But,as I grow older into my senior years, your own will, pride and desires become less inmportant. We,as mature Christians, must put the other person first,or think of other people before ourselves!

I have long struggled with that passage;"You cannot serve God and mammon",which goes along with the passage;"Be in the world, but not of the world".Even with the little I have,I still try to extra hard to make the bucks, instead of totally surrenduring my greed to God's will!

A big amen to this article and all the comments. Western culture is truly anti-Christ. I am not speaking of the violence against Christians, of the defacement of churches or writings and comments that openly demean are bigoted. These are only symptoms of the disease. The West openly defies and hates God and His truth which brings us to another teaching of Jesus. Jesus warns that because they hated Him first, they will hate us too. But we can't retaliate. Instead we love, forgive, bless and pray for them, and continue to bring Christ and His truth to all!
