I will stick to the Welch theory. They are closely interrelated to Iris Celts. My own family is both Irish as in Ireland with Welch spread in. I also have Scandinavian DNA which comes from those settled into Ireland. I like to think of Patrick as similar, but I have to admit, however, there is good reason to see a Roman background. Anyway, this is just fun stuff not related to the mission of Missio Dei, so I will shut up.
I have one very unimportant question. I am Irish, and I never heard that Patrick was Italian!!!!! I knew he was Welch, but Italian? Tell me it isn't so😂
There are two trains of thought. Either he is of a Roman family or an indigenous Celtic family from wales. Most Historians accept Patrick’s Roman (hence Italian) origins as he came from an aristocratic family, during the time of the Roman occupation (though very late into it), spoke and wrote in Latin, and signed his name as Patricius. .... Spreading internet rumors --- I have heard rumors that he loved spaghetti, lasagna, and had they invented it at the time, PIzza. JUST KIDDING. Being of 50% Irish descent ... I say, he had an Christian heart with an Irish sense of humor. Erin Go Bragh. God Bless!
Beautiful reflection on today’s Gospel, Deacon. St. Patrick pray for us and the world 🙏☘️🙏
