Kaleb, another truly insightful and thought-provoking article, i.e,... Wise! May God continue to bless you and keep you. We, who are the beneficiaries of your wisdom, are likewise blessed. Thank you!
“The ten virgins, then, are in one sense all Christians; in another, they are all humans, since Christ’s redemptive sacrifice on the Cross and offer of salvation in His Church is universally open to everyone who desires it.”
Do you believe there is salvation outside of the Catholic Church?
Thank you for your question, Sophia - I thought this might come up when I originally wrote the quoted sense. No, I do not believe there is salvation outside of the Catholic Church, beyond the sense explained in the Catechism, according to which all who are saved are saved through communion with the Catholic Church, even if God accomplishes that communion outside the visible bonds of the Church in exceptional circumstances. My point in this sentence, however, was only that Christ's redemptive sacrifice on the Cross is universally offered to all people without restriction - through His Church. The ordinary means of receiving this grace is the Church He established. The virgins, then, can represent all people, all of whom are offered salvation while only the wise accept it and are thus prepared for the Bridegroom.

Thank you, Al, I appreciate it! God bless!
I attend a Methodist church and we had the same scripture reading today. It was interesting to get to learn more about this passage.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mark! Feel free to check out more interesting articles, including our daily Gospel reflections, at Missio Dei.
I try to read most of them.
Very apt text, that conveys perfectly the meaning of this Gospel in our lives.
Thank you, Victor! God bless!
