Bravo, for boldly saying this!!!! I too drifted from Jesus and thus the Church for a time. Jesus, I believed then, was a great teacher, prophet, wise man who seemed to geniunely care about folks, but that was a far as it went. Thanks to my parents' prayers and the Holy Spirit, who is, praise God, relentless, I returned to Jesus and the Church.
Beautiful reflection on today’s Gospel. Thank you for your honesty and openness in sharing the time you drifted away from your faith in God and the Church. I believe we all have those dark moments in our lives. I too have had a similar time in my live and I thank God for His Holy Spirit and the prayers of my mother that I have returned to my Catholic faith. Today I pray for all of those who have drifted away from their faith that they open their eyes and truly see what is happening in the world today and return to the Church. Amen 🙏
There is also the law of sin which is our human weakness (cf. Romans 7:14 thru 8:2; Matthew 26:41). This level of sin exists even before we are tempted and commit sin acts. I wonder if Jesus was referring to this instead of sin actions because He redeemed us to give us strength over our human weakness.
