I came to Missio Dei at the recommendation of Anthony and Debra Esolen's substack. His poem of the week fits in with my comment on striking the rock. This time, we are the stones that cry out for our Lord.

I think your words, "the yoke is not meant to be carried by ourselves. Our Lord remains under it and, walks with us" says it all. Very faith inspiring!!!

When Moses was leading the Israelites on their arduous journey through the desert and they had no water, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the staff, and assemble the congregation, you and Aaron your brother, and tell the rock before their eyes to yield its water." But Moses didn't: he struck the rock, twice. For this, Moses was not able to enter the promised land.

Jesus was, and is, our Living Water. He wants us not to strike Him, but to join Him under His yoke.
