Thank you for sharing this excellent post on humility. I recently published a column on how to defeat your demons like a devout Catholic, and concluded by reminding ourselves that humility is key in the battle against Satan's forces.

"But without humility, every other virtue becomes merely a signal for boasting and an emblem of pride, so that they are no longer true virtues at all." So very well said Kaleb. Thank you for such a great reflection. God Bless!

I appreciated the reminder that humility isn't about thinking less of ourselves, but about keeping our attention on something greater than ourselves. The idea that humility is the gateway to the other virtues gave me a new way of thinking about it. It suggests that growth begins not with proving who we are, but with remaining teachable enough to keep becoming who we're called to be.

A great summary - more concise than my writing!

I think it was Saint Augustine who said humility was to aspire to the great things only God can enable. That keeps it real for me! Thank you for this reflection on humility.

Thank you! St. Augustine certainly understood the necessity of humility, especially due to his battles with the Pelagians.
