Thanks. The desire for certainty, to have it all figured out rather than trusting in God’s plan, even if it’s opaque at times, has been a major pitfall for me. Faith has to be a daily commitment.
Excellent! It seems to me that atheists often box themselves into corners, and then grab a hold of almost anything to try to get out and save face! I suspect a type of fear is behind their need to be an atheist, a fear of losing control. Though I have never been an atheist, I can relate to the fear of loss of control over my life, my self, and when that fear becomes intense I commit some sort of sin to assert my independence! Giving God control means not getting my own way. I can be too fond of my own way!
We have an imperfect understanding of morality, and cannot be trusted to decide right and wrong for ourselves because we tend towards the wrong as a result of the law of sin which is our human weakness. When we surrender our wills to God, we can then have the Spirit of Truth within us and God’s law is written in our hearts; and the law of sin will no longer dominate us.
In my limited experience, atheists don’t want to believe in God and objective morality because they want to do their own thing. They don’t want to be held accountable or told “no.” They want what they want. They want to sin with impunity. Only atheism allows this.
This is fantastic. Every atheist I’ve met is searching for certainty. Excellently written.

Atheism leads to that, though there’s more I’d add to it. This gives me a writing idea.
