Doubt can be the easy response, as you had written. I have been in this situation countless times, yet the Lord always provides and pulls me out of the storm. Amen, and thank you for the reflection.

I confess that whenever I read the Scripture passage, my thoughts are rather critical of Peter. After all as the saying goes I already know the story ending, so being judgemental comes easy. I like your perspective of Peter. He was afraid, but he stepped out anyway. Once out his fear overcame him, but he still knew where to turn. He still knew the source of his help and he cried out to the Lord alone. At least he turned to the Lord even though he feared. So yes, where were the other disciples? They never even took a chance, but played it safe. I think I would have been standing with the other 11 watching Peter, but not taking the chance Peter took! I owe Peter an apology!
