The statistics are shocking, yet they reveal a harsh reality: one in every three women in the U.S. has been, or is, in an abusive relationship. These statistics hold steady regardless of race, educational level, location—and religion. What this means is that one in three women in our parishes have been or are victims of abuse within their own homes.
Good warning signs to look out for. When someone reacts punitively to you setting some boundaries, that's how you know there's toxicity in the relationship. I would imagine — I would hope! — this is more often unconscious/unintentional in Christian circles, but that doesn't make it acceptable. Thanks for posting, Jenny!
