“Either we must speak as we dress, or dress as we speak. Why do we profess one thing and display another? The tongue talks of chastity, but the whole body reveals impurity.” (Saint Jerome) As a young adult Catholic woman I would like to share my take on modesty, not to cast judgment on other women or to spark a religious debate, but to speak to my sisters in Christ about our feminine beauty; that which enhances our human dignity as designed by our Creator.
This is a much needed article. Thanks for the links as well, and I will share this with some friends for sure.
The links are great, Christiana! Thank you so much for the wonderful article, and also for providing resources. Now I'm off to do some online shopping!
Excellent reflection! I hope many young folks hear yourvwords!! 🙏
Don’t forget about parish or diocesan thrift stores. I love wearing ankle length skirts, but I can find them only at our thrift store. I can get beautiful clothes while still supporting our diocesan outreach to the homeless.
