I enjoyed your article. Thanks for bringing up the prosperity gospel. I never thought of it in that light. I was talking with a friend about how the belief in the Rapture, has allowed good Christians to do nothing while the world is burning as they felt they will be zipped away from suffering. I’ll have to think about how these two are related.
Thanks! I would say the Prosperity Gospel and the Rapture are definitely related, two ‘traditions of men’ that Protestants supposedly don’t have. Along with the once saved, always saved doctrine, they flow logically from Protestant understandings of faith alone and predestination, all of which as you said exempt us from doing anything to help the world today.
