First John 3? What exactly are asking about the context? If you start on v. 4 the context is called a parallelism. Those who sin are not of God: they are not righteous & those who do not sin, by God’s grace, are revealed to be from God & are righteous.
1 John 3:10 “In this way, the children of God and the children of the devil are made plain; no one who fails to act in righteousness belongs to God, nor anyone who does not love his brother.”
