Holiness is a work of grace. It happens when we reject our own efforts for arriving at it, and trust in the Lord with all of our hearts and not lean on our own understanding. Holiness is acquired by elimination, and not by acquisition.
I think that purgation is our willingness to cast all of our care on God. It is a specific act of faith, rather than a stage; then, God infuses the virtues according to His timing. It can be immediate.
Great speaking with you, Jonathon! Thanks for having me on!
It was a pleasure and I enjoyed it. I hope many will check out the Holy Habits app and find it is an excellent supplement to their Catholic walk.

Elimination is they key part of the purgative stage; however, we can “acquire” virtues over time, through conscious cooperation with God’s Grace.
