I have always thought in terms of Jesus bringing us into the kingdom of God which is true enough, but as you have pointed out, its much more, much deeper than that. Jesus is the kingdom of God, and He brings us into Himself! "He is the way, the truth and the light"!

Yes. When Christ preaches the kingdom it is something deep and rooted in the prophetic literature of Israel scattered by sin via the Babylonian exile and their rejection of God’s commands. The understanding of Incarnation must be rooted in its Jewish character & understanding of the Messiah in 2nd temple Judaism.

Jesus, the Shepherd, is a calling back of the tribes. It is something more too. The prophetic literature is filled with the understanding of calling out to all nations that God will reach out to all of humanity in a new covenant of glorious restoration. The gospel of Luke frames Jesus’ mission in this understanding with Jesus reading from Isaiah 61.
