We are all born with the law of sin, which is our tendency towards sin. We do not choose this regardless of sin actions. A baby is born with it without having done anything wrong. Eventually, we naturally choose to sin. Refraining from sin does not bring us out of the law of sin. We need to go to Christ for this (cf. John 3:18).
"The identity they have chosen is not real, since it is separate from God."
This is chilling, but also deeply interesting and I would love to see it explored even further. If God is all-knowing, are we subverting Him by choosing a path that He cannot follow us down?
The mask illustration is powerful. "Till We Have Faces"-y.
Thanks, I actually got it from Merton! I never have been able to finish "Till We Have Faces"

Beautiful reflection!!!!
