Pelosi Refused the Eucharist Until She Revokes Abortion Support

Let us pray for the conversion of Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, who has continuously been a strong advocate for abortion.

On Friday, May 20th it was announced publicly by the Archbishop of San Francisco, Salvatore Cordileone, that Nancy Pelosi would not be permitted to receive Holy Communion until she publicly rescinds her pro-abortion stance.

It has been heard from the very words of the House Speaker how she describes herself as a “devout Catholic,” despite how she time and time again makes clear her strong support and high favor towards abortion even up until birth.

The Archbishop had spoken with Pelosi on multiple occasions and beckoned her to repent. He issued warnings to her about the consequences of her actions due to her political stance on the issue of abortion, which creates a public scandal in the Church. A Catholic cannot support abortion in any way, shape, or form due to the belief in the sanctity of every human life from conception to natural death.

In his letter on Thursday May 19th to Pelosi the archbishop cites the Code of Canon Law, Canon 915, which clearly states: “those…obstinately persevering in manifest grave sin are not to be admitted to holy communion.” It appears according to the letter that the Speaker of the House cut off all communication with the archbishop after the leaked Supreme Court draft to overturn Roe vs. Wade.
