No donation from me. This priest has not told the whole story or truth. I am not not basing my comments on the news media, but upon thorough study of the complete history of this area. Palestinians have had multiple opportunities to create their own state, but have refused because they want all of Palestine including present day Israel and have chosen the path of war and terror putting their time, money and efforts into destroying Israel. There is a great deal more info to be said, but no space here to say it. It is indeed complicated. I will say this. The son of one of the founders of Hamas trained to be his father's replacement one day is one of my sources. He now lives in the US and sides with Israel.

Greetings Kathleen, I think it’s important to reiterate as one of the founding editors of Missio Dei, no article or video is an organizational stance of Missio Dei. We operate a cooperative. For example, we have articles supporting Pope Francis’ initiatives, but Jonathon interviewed Julia Meloni on the her book on St Gallen Mafia.

There are traditional Catholics, no doubt, who write for Missio Dei who support the political idea of monarchy. I am very anti-monarchy.

Here are my thoughts on this issue.

What is Palestine? Is it the region under the Persians, Alexander, the Romans, Caliphs, Kingdom of Jerusalem, Saladin, Ottomons, 1948 UN agreement, 1990s, Hamas, etc.

It hard to define when someone says Palestine. If there is some sort of consensus & if someone feels Israel has went too far in its reaction of the October attacks then I think it’s important to make clear that Palestine & Hamas may be 2 different objects. Has Israel went too far? Should they agree to ceasefire? Hamas claims that support of Israel is a sin against Islam, so what does a ceasefire actually do for Israel? These are important questions to weed out, I think it’s important to listen to different sides of the issue, but with most geopolitical issues the issues tend to be complex and far removed.

I do agree with you. I was simply expressing what I know, and of course believe. I agree everyone has a right to their opinion and to express it, but that doesn't mean I should remain silent.

I do understand. My comments were not a criticism of you or Mission Dei. I was just giving my view. I could never be against Mission Dei. I love Mission Dei! Besides you print my daughter and son's articles faitfully. No mother can resist being proud of that😂

Thank you for the comment, Kathleen, and for responding. The only way to understand this situation is through, let's say, the truth. I know you seek the truth the same way I do, and so I would first like to know what part of the Priest's story you feel is not the truth. Can you please give an example? Next, I would propose the question of how Palestine can become its own state if it has been controlled by Israel for about the past 55 years.

Israel has not controlled Palestine for 55 years.Israel has been forced to protect itself which includes necessary strong defense STRONG defense and control of it's borders. Israel has agreed to two separate states several times. Since 1948 when the UN mandated two states, Jews tried to concentrate on setting up their own nation. Palestinians refused to set their own nation, and instead focused on war and violence with attack s after attacks on Israel. Palestinians were always, every time, the aggressor, never Israel who genuinely wanted to live in peace. The Palestinians lost all their wars against Israel. Israel has won in the end and remakns. I see the hand and protection of God in this! The Palestinians want to kill all Jews and destroy totally Israel They want the present land of Israel for themselves and al! Jews gone. They have forced Israel's hand causing them to tame tough, strong measures against Palestine.

By the way, there has never been a time since 70 Ad and later either 132 or134 (I forget the exact date) when Rome exiled many Jews, that there were no Jews in the Holy Land. Rome did not remove all Jews. Rome removed those advantages for them to remove, but never all Jews. It is a historical fact since Moses to this very day that there have been Jews in the Holy Land. What is more under Moses this was a return of Jews to their home. When Rome defeated the Jews, Rome renamed the area Palestine a corruption or Rome's version of Philestines. At that time all living in newly named Palestine were called Palestinians including Jews. Jews referred to themselves as Palestinians. Jews, Christian and Muslims were called Palestinians and lived side by side in peace. Sometimes intermarrying. Then comes WWII and Hitler who sends many agents to Palestine to turn the Muslims and Arabs against Jews, and Hitler was successful. You could say Hitler has created this whole mess. There are plenty of documents to prove all this. In fact Nazi writings to this day are found in Palestinian schools all focused on hate of Jews. In fact my Dad, who was in WWII,.personally found a great deal of Nazi material in both homes and schools of Muslim and Arabs in the Holy Land.

Fr. Firas gives a fair history of 1948, and I do not believe he is siding one way or another here, but instead, he is telling it like it is. What part do you think he is not speaking truthfully, as his family has been there for over 500 years? I think he also touched on the term Nakba which was basically the Diaspora of the Palestinians due to the 1948 conflict and the civil war. Secondly, there is no time Israel ever agreed on a two-state solution, and again, even in 1948, this was, I believe, a U.N. decision for that area and this is not really in the Zionist ideology. Is this because the Palestinians said no? It is simply not black and white, and please look into that. Even Trump tried to mention the two-state solution, and this was back when he was in office, but it was a big NO from Netanyahu. Even sleepy Joe has said to Netanyahu to do this, but this is not happening, and I think we need to look at that honestly here and not just say this is a Hamas thing completely. This is not a Palestinian decision only, and the racial thing you speak of is definitely not one-sided. I would recommend another video to check out for someone who has set foot in these areas and saw how the State of Israel treated the everyday Palestinians. Honestly, it changed my life to this day to see the daily border crossing and how it was obviously a Jewish state. Do you believe Fr. Firas when he mentions the blocking of water flow to certain areas and who goes in and out of Palestine through the border? As Fr. Firas pointed out, his mother could not get water for two weeks, which is at Israel's hands. One thing here I noticed, and I think you will agree with me is America can not criticize Israel, or we are labeled anti-Semitic (which is not an accurate term, as I discuss in the video). But this is an issue because we need to be able to speak the truth no matter who it offends, and Israel equally hates the Palestinians. Both Israel and Hamas have blood on their hands here, and just because the left has co-opted this situation does not mean they are completely wrong in some areas. I will attach a good speaker on the topic. I know this is not what the narrative the conservatives are pushing in America, but I believe there is another reason for that which is a whole other can of worms. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kAfIYtpcBxo
