Greetings Missio Dei Catholic,
Your support keeps our mission alive. Missio Dei is dedicated to serving those who support us. Our gospel reflections have become a pivotal aspect of our daily lives. In 2023, Missio Dei answered the bishops' call and published a compendium on the Eucharist called The Eucharistic Revival Project with the help of En Route Books and Media.
We want to do more for our Lord. Your generous donation makes Missio Dei more effective in proclaiming our Lord’s gospel. Missio Dei will have a great 2025 for our Lord—you’re a vital part of it! We’re currently in the final stages of publishing our book on the Rosary Crown of Roses: Devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, which will be released in 2025. Our rosary book is 100% funded by generous donors like you. We’re not a sizeable nonprofit ministry. It’s simple: Your act keeps our mission alive—it cannot be overstated!
Missio Dei wants to be active in parish communities and dioceses, too. One of my proposals is sponsoring retreats for the parish level, deaneries, or dioceses. I have discussed with men at my diocese and with board members for Missio Dei. It has always been a goal of mine for content creators and supporters of Missio Dei to be the face of Missio Dei at their parish. So, keeping that in mind, I am now in the planning stages of a men’s ministry: Vado Piscari Fly Fishing. A ministry dedicated to bringing a group of four to eight men together at the parish level, doing the activity of those called first by Jesus Christ to be His disciples. “Vado Piscari” is the Latin phrase meaning “I am going fishing,” uttered by St. Peter following encounters of the risen Lord.
After attending a Bible study group, my wife, Kara, asked me, “When do you find yourself most at peace?” After some thought, I replied, “When I’m fishing, all of my senses are so engaged that nothing else in the world breaks into the activity.”
I continued, “I can see why Jesus picked fishermen as the first disciples. A fisherman has to be an optimist when a great deal of the time he’s unsuccessful. There is a great deal of skill in fishing, but a lot of it is right place/time. It cultivates the virtues of temperance, humility, and patience, to name a few.”
One of my hopes is that the launching of this ministry will encourage others to lean into their skills and hobbies and bring faith to others in their parish communities. I will bring prayer into this activity, giving praise to God, and a bit of study in scripture, but primarily providing Christian masculine fraternity and the skill of fly fishing. The immediate cost will be purchasing two new fly-fishing rod combos at $300 for both reels. Your generosity can help make this ministry a reality.
Missio Dei strives to be different than other Catholic media content and ministries. Our following proposal is launching a Catholic scholarship fund for undergraduates who will attend Holy Apostles College and Seminary. Our first-year goal for this coming fall is to award a scholarship of $500 to an undergraduate. The undergraduates will be given a prompt for an essay, and our board will select the award recipient from among those students. The essay will be featured on Missio Dei when the board determines it.
Please consider donating to help Missio Dei accomplish our 2025 goals. You can support us by becoming a monthly paid supporter on Substack. Make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel. You can also consider purchasing a handcrafted rosary or veil from our online store. The most important thing you can do to help our ministry is to pray for those participating in Missio Dei. You can also tell others about us: Please recommend us on social media and at your parish.
Remember, you are the face of Missio Dei in your communities.
Blessings,
Phillip Hadden
