I like to think of the Nehushtan as God's way of giving us a little exposure therapy. We confront the fearsome serpent's likeness, which represents both the real snakes plaguing the people and the great snake Satan, and in doing so our obedience to God overcomes our fear of evil. This sets right our ordering of things in the world.

Thank you, thank you, well said indeed!
