Homosexuality and the Gift of Marriage
In the Catechism of the Catholic Church
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, homosexual acts are sins against the virtue of chastity and thus against both marriage and our God-given sexual nature. It lists three specific reasons for homosexual acts being “intrinsically disordered”:
1. They are “contrary to the natural law.”
2. They “close the sexual act to the gift of life.”
3. They “do not proceed from a genuine affective and sexual complementarity.”
