The Church changed the name of the sacrament from Penance to Reconciliation. There is a big difference in the two words. Penance usually refers to penitential acts that are performed by an individual. Reconciliation or repentance is an act of faith for drawing close God, which does not require penitential acts. It requires unconditional trust in God that strengthens us against further sin. In Luke 13:5, the word repent is used instead of penance in the Catholic Douay. A greater emphasis on Reconciliation would be a good thing.
Just like Holy Prophet Saint John the Baptist, we are called to be little 🌴🌙 💦 Forerunners.
And like Mary, we are all called ⛪🔥🪽 to be little God-bearers, (Theotokos) in a real and personal union, communion and synergeia of Divine Grace and Human FreeWill: a mystery.
