It always amazes me how I can pass judgement on the scribe in the parable of the scribe and tax collector in the Temple or the young man in today's Gospel. Afterall I would never do that! And then I calmly walk away from the Lord to go do something I have no business doing!

I did that when I was younger, and look where it landed me. When I was 18, I gave myself completely to God and followed his call to Dallas to college. I met my best friend, who came back to Christ before he died.

Paul spoke of the struggle between the Spirit and the flesh in Romans 7th chapter.I think almost all Christians struggle with our basic selfish desires.
